Russell E. Byerly

URBANA- Russell E. Byerley, 93, of Urbana, formerly of Georgetown, passed away at 11:30pm on July 21, 2007 at the Country Health Nursing Home in Gifford, IL. Russell was born on September 30, 1913 in Georgetown, the son of Everett and Edith Felgenhaure Byerley. Both of his parents precede him in death. After graduating from Georgetown High, Russell married Ms. Mary Lillian Dillman. She preceded him in death in April 2007. Russell leaves behind his son; David Byerley of Urbana, his grandson; Ryan Byerley, also of Urbana, his two great-grandchildren; Nolen, and Mary Rose Byerley, his sister; Elsie Chantos of Florida, a nephew; Jack (Kaylee) Chantos of Florida, a niece; Sandy (Jack) Stephenson of Georgetown, and a special friend; the Charles (Sherry) Redmond family of Georgetown. Russell work as post master at the Georgetown Post Office retiring with 20 plus years of service, and then working part-time at the Georgetown IGA. He was a member of the 1ST Church of Christ in Georgetown, and enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He was an avid Illini and Cardinal fan. A celebration of the Life of Russell Byerley is scheduled for 10:00am on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E. West Street in Georgetown. Officiating the service will be Rev. Marcy Clements. Final resting place will be at the Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, July 25, from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made in Russells name to the American Heart Association and/or the Country Health Nursing Home in Gifford, IL
