Russell E. Block

URBANA- Russell E. Block, 83, of Urbana passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17th, 2014. Russell was born on August 30, 1930 the son of Edward and Eva Bergfield Block. He married Katherine Joyce Dutton. She survives. Also surviving is his son, Steven E. Block; grandson, Zachary E. Block; and great grand-daughter, Savannah Block. One son, Kevin E. Block; his parents; and one sister, Hazel Davis all proceed him in death. Russell farmed for many years, was an Auctioneer, and sold real estate. He retired after 19 years of serving his community as a Bailiff for Champaign County Court House. Russell enjoyed deep sea fishing, but he found the most enjoyment in spending time with friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Broadlands Lutheran Church, or a charity of the donors choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00am at Broadlands Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2401 County Road 400 N., Broadlands, 61816. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Broadlands.
