Russell W. "Russell Bill" Davis, 75, of Georgetown, passed away at 6:55pm, Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on December 9, 1940, in Bethel, IL the son of Merle Steiner and Margaret Davis. He was lovingly raised by his grandmother, Cecil M. Davis. Russell Bill was married to Darlene Wood until her passing in 1964. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Luther on May 28, 1965, in Ridge Farm, IL. They were married for 50 years and she will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his children, Timothy (Loi) Davis of Ridge Farm, Russell Jr (Lisa) Davis of Georgetown, Sheree (Erin Hall) Pribble of Georgetown, Terri (Ron) Hoskins of Georgetown, & Traci (Rob) Darnell of Indianola; his grandchildren, Mike Hoskins, Sadie Pribble, Timothy Davis II, Tallen Mullen, Daulton Davis, Laci Hoskins, Easton Hoskins, Tyler Darnell, Rileigh Darnell, & Amber Galyen; his great grandchildren, Kent Hoskins, Gavin Hoskins, Connor Mullen, Taylor Galyen, & Tristin Galyen; and his many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, & granddaughter, Kylie Hoskins. Russell Bill worked at C.E.&I. Railroad early in life and later for Hyster in Danville, as well as, the City of Georgetown. He retired from Quaker Oats in 2006 after 22 years and recently worked for Enterprise Car Rental where he loved his "family" there. Russell Bill was an organ donor which was important to him. He belonged to the Russell Masonic Lodge #154 and was a 32 Mason and Past Master. He served as Hospital Chairperson for Shrine Children & their families and made trips to the Hospitals in St. Louis & Chicago. He was past President of the Eastern Illinois Shrine Club, past President of the 25-man Super Cycle, member of the Gao Grotto, and in November of 2015 was awarded the highly distinguished Honorary Ring Master of the Ansar Shrine Circus in Springfield, IL. Russell Bill also was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple of Danville. Russell Bill was known to many as a jolly person. His infectious smile & laughter filled the room. He was a great husband, father, & grandfather. He was an awesome provider and protector of his family and those he loved. He will be remembered by all those who knew and loved him. "Heaven gained a beautiful Angel today. Our hearts hurt, but we will see you again. You have taught us all something about life, and how to make the world a better place. Rest in Peace" A celebration of Russell Bill's life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, with Pastor John Myers officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm - 8:00pm, Friday, February 19, 2016, at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7:00pm by the Russell Masonic Lodge #154. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Eastern Illinois Shrine Club.
