Ruby Thelma Billings Garwood, 97, of Covington, formerly of Georgetown, passed away at 2:00am, Friday, September 23, 2011, at The Waters of Covington, IN. She was born on October 19, 1914, in Westville, IL, the daughter of Charles F. and Stella {Howard} Billings, both deceased. She was married to Raymond Galyen on July 11, 1934, until his passing in 1953. She was later married to John H. Tucker on November 26, 1955, until his death in 1975. She was united in marriage to Albert E. Garwood on October 3, 1976, in Georgetown, until his passing on February 15, 2007. She is survived by: her son, Walter (Tina) Galyen of Berea, KY; her step-son, Larry (Sarah) Garwood of Louisville, KY; her step-daughter, Janice Eckel of Danville and Sandra Abernathy of Clinton, IN; her grandsons, John Earl Galyen & Michael Royce Galyen; her twelve step grandchildren; and 18 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her sister, Florence Aldrich, her step-sister, Ellen Jones Bethel; and step-son, Donald Tucker. Ruby was baptized in November of 1955 and was a member of the First Church of Christ. She retired from General Electric in 1975. She was the secretary of the Christian Builders Class, president of Lydia Circle, on the Mission Committee, and a Prayer-Chain member. A special "thank-you" to the Staff at The Waters in Covington for their care. A celebration of Ruby's life will be held at 4:00pm, Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Steve Rutter officiating. Visitation will be 1:00pm - 3:30pm, Sunday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in her name First Church of Christ, Georgetown, or Johnson Bible College of Knoxville, TN.
