WESTVILLE- Ruby Winifred Smith, 92, of Westville, passed away at 11:55am on Tuesday, August 30th, 2005, at the Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman. She was born on June 1st, 1913, in Mt. Carmel, IL, the daughter of Homer and Hattie Mae (Martin) Williams. Both parents precede her in death. Ruby was first married to William Shapuras, and then later married Kenneth J. Smith, who preceded her in death on September 10, 1988. Those who will miss her include: two sons, Robert (Mary Ann) Shapuras of Westville and Charles (Debbie) Shapuras of Champaign; four grandchildren, Robert (Jill) Shapuras of Terre Haute, IN, Steve (Michelle) Shapuras of Mitchell, IL, Jeff (Maureen) Shapuras of Chicago, IL, and Susan (Chris) Moyer of Champaign; four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; and special friend as well as caregiver, Ella Mae Golladay. She is preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. Ruby was employed at the General Motors Tilton Foundry for 28 years as a cashier in the cafeteria then retiring in 1971. In her spare time, she enjoyed being with her family, her dogs, listening to country music and reading. A celebration of Rubys life is scheduled for 11:00am on Friday, September 2nd, 2005, at Sunsets South Westville Chapel at 414 S. State St. in Westville. Officiating will be Pastor David Steidel. Final resting place will be at Manns Chapel in Rossville, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
