Ruby M. Lake, 83, of Danville, passed this Life at 8:05am on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Provena USMC in Danville. She was born on May 29, 1926, in Newell Township, the daughter of Simeon E. Roderick, and Tina F. (Shuff) Roderick. On February 23, 1946, Ruby married Mr. Melvin L. Lake. They were married for 50 years until his passing on January 2, 1996. Ruby is survived by her four children, Melvin (Donette) Lake of Covington, IN, Gail (Sam) Ray of Covington, IN, Melody (Charles) Pearson of Lake Whales, Florida, and Nancy Lake of Las Vegas, NV. Her four grandchildren, Mike (Nicole) Ray, Scott (Jamie) Pearson, Lexi (Kyle) Swaby, Loran (Adrian) Hack, and her great-grandson, Hayden Hack, also survive Ruby. In addition to her husband Melvin, Ruby is also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister. Ruby was a high School graduate and later employed with Woodburys Book and Office Supply Store in Danville until her retirement. She was a member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville and enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo, working with her garden and flowers, playing card games, and spending time with her family. She will be missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Rubys Life will begin at 10:00am on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Calling hours will be from 5-8pm on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the funeral home. Ruby will be interred next to her husband at Danville National Cemetery.
