Ruby C. Lockwood

Ruby C. Lockwood, 87, of Oakwood, IL passed away on December 17, 2018 at 8:42 p.m. at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. She was surrounded by all eight of her children and several grandchildren during her peaceful passing. She was born in Tompkinsville, Kentucky on November 04, 1931, the daughter of Perry Copas and Florence (Hurd) Copas. She married John "Jack" Lockwood on May 15, 1959 in Danville.

Preceding Ruby in death are both of her parents; husband; three siblings, Marshall Copas, Anna Giroux, Lorna Abney; and two sons-in-law, Don Schoon and Gary Boyer.

Survivors include two sons, Mike (LRee) Fetters and John "JJ" Lockwood; six daughters, Becky Schoon, Cathy Boyer, Cassandra (Kevin) Smith, Dianne Lockwood, Lisa Williams, and Amy (Chuck) Thompson; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and several close friends.

Ruby enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Kentucky Wildcats basketball. She was proud to be from Kentucky. Some of her hobbies included gardening, cooking, baking, and collecting dolls. Ruby especially loved spending time with friends and family and was affectionately known as "Tiny." She was a constant host and enjoyed sending cards for birthdays and other special events. She will be missed by her family and the people she loved.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Patti Wise. Burial will be at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Rubys name to the Parkinsons Foundation.
