Roy Dan Pintar, 87, passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2025. He was born on September 17, 1937, in rural Georgetown, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Sophia (Stimac) Pintar.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Violet (Noggle) Pintar, and their children: Brad (Julie) Pintar, Cathy (Shane) Knoblett, and Stacy (Jason) McKinney. He was a proud grandfather to Kylie (Ben) Tucker, Cole (Kaley) Knoblett, Ryan (Abby) Pintar, Paige (Trey) Wilson, Jackson McKinney, Grant McKinney, Carter McKinney, and Harper McKinney. He also leaves behind one great-granddaughter, along with several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Pintar.
Roy graduated from Georgetown High School in 1955. As a young man, he worked at the Grab-It grocery store in Cayuga, Indiana, where he met the love of his life, Violet. They were married on November 14, 1959.
Over the years, Roy was employed at General Electric, the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles, Ryder/PIE, and eventually retired from TMF in Williamsport, Indiana, in 1999. Known for his tireless work ethic, Roy remained active well into retirement. He and Violet retired to the family farm, where he enjoyed gardening, tending fruit trees, and even raising cattle for a time.
Roy proudly served his country in the Army National Guard of Illinois from 1958 to 1961, as part of Troop A, 1st Squadron, 106th Cavalry Division. He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Roy was a devoted member of St. Isaac Jogues Church in Georgetown, which he had attended faithfully since the church’s founding in 1942.
In his younger years, Roy enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, and square dancing. He was also a talented fast-pitch softball player, earning several team batting titles and contributing to a state championship in 1977. He was a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Illinois Fighting Illini.
Roy also gave back to his community, serving for several years as a city council member for the City of Georgetown.
In retirement, he was an avid euchre player and participated in a local card club for many years. He also found joy and comfort in reading the Bible.
Above all, Roy cherished time spent with his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His legacy of love, faith, and hard work will live on in all who knew and loved him.
