Roy Lee Herron, 61, of Potomac, passed away at 3:55 a.m. Friday September 23, 2005 at Heart Center of Indiana in Indianapolis. Roy was born on August 29, 1944 in Auburn, Illinois, the son of Robert Leslie and Hazel (Campbell) Herron. He married Mae Rumble on September 24, 1965 at the Potomac Church of Christ. She survives. He is also survived by his four daughters-Debra (Bill) Acree of Alvin, Illinois, Denise(Jim) Hunt of Potomac, Illinois, Kim (Dan) Hunt of Potomac, Illinois, and Karri Herron of Potomac, Illinois; five brothers- Bill(Geraldine) Herron of Milford, Illinois, Gene (Pat) Herron of Alvin, Illinois, Bobby (Debbie) Herron of Advance, Indiana, Larry (Laura) Herron of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Jeffrey (Kelly) Herron of Columbia, Kentucky; seven sisters- Helen South of Indianapolis, Indiana, Doris (J.W.) Rector of Columbia, Kentucky, Jo Ann (Gordon) Alexander of Jamesburg, Illinois, Barbara (Chuck) Gastent of Westville, Illinois, Linda (Lamuel) Gastin of Columbia, Kentucky, Brenda (Billy Bob) Forshire of Danville, Illinois, and Janet (Don) Je Rue of Westville, Illinois; eleven grandchildren- Jonathon (Hope) Bishop, Ashley Acree, Daniel Acree, Danielle Hunt, Joshua Hunt, Whitney Hunt, Alyssa Hunt, Seth Pratt, Christian Hunt, Madisyn Hunt, and Dakotah McCoy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Donny Herron and James Robert Herron, two sisters- Shirley O Banion and Mary Lou Langellier. Roy worked at the Clinton Power plant until 1982. He was a member of Laborers International Union of North America Local #703. He attended Alvin Church of God. Roy loved to go to auctions, mushroom hunt, and just being outside. He loved to watch Animal Planet and Cops on television. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He had a great sense of humor. He was a very special uncle. A celebration of the life of Roy Lee Herron will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday September 26, 2005 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Pastor David Routien Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 2-6 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Gundy Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Heart Center of Indiana.
