Roy L. Ramert, 95, of Georgetown, passed away at 10:30am, Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at North Logan Health Care, Danville. He was born on June 13, 1918, in Champaign County, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Bonwell on December 7, 1941, in Chrisman, IL, until her passing in 1994. Roy was a lifetime farmer in the Edgar County area. He was a member of the Georgetown Friends Meeting and was very active in it because of his love of the Church. He was lifelong member of the Georgetown Fair Board and had one of the buildings dedicated to him which is called Roy Ramert Agorama Building. He also enjoyed collecting model tractors. He cherished and loved his family most of all. Those who will miss him include: his children, Madalyn Ramert of Danville, Dale (Peggy) Ramert of Danville, Donald (L. Sue) Ramert of Maryville, IL, & Jane (George Smith) Frye of Danville; his grandchildren, Dale A. Ramert, D. Jason (Pamela) Ramert, & D. Justin (Jamie) Ramert; his great grandchildren, Morgan Ramert, Logan Ramert, Bridget Ramert, & Jacob Ramert. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Esther Parrish & Mary Hopt. A celebration of Roys life will be held at 11:30am, Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with John Myers officiating. Visitation will be held 9:30am - 11:30am, Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Friends Cemetery, Edgar County. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roys name may be given in his name to the Georgetown Fair Association.
