WESTVILLE- Roy Farrell, 86 of Westville, passed away at 10:05am on Friday, June 23, 2006 at the Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Tilton. Mr. Farrell was born on August 24, 1919, at home in Westville, the son of Edgar and Annie (Payne) Farrell. Both his parents precede him in death. On May 21, 1961, Roy married Betty Cavendor at the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. She preceded him in death in 1975. Roy will be missed by: his daughter, Debra Johnson of Momence, IL; his brother, Jim (Mary) Farrell of Westville; his sister, Edith Spries of Danville; his grandson, Pastor Brian (Erika) Johnson of Michigan; and his granddaughter, Amy Johnson of Momence, IL. His niece-Bonnie Shedd, his son-in-law-Stephen Johnson, and his brother-in-law-Alvin Spries, preceded Roy in death. After serving in the United States Army during WWII, Roy worked with Tec Supply at the Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL until retirement. He was a member of the 1st Church of Christ in Georgetown, past Commander of the Westville American Legion Post #51, and past President of the Westville Sportsmens Club. Roy also held memberships at the Georgetown Russell Lodge Masonic Temple in Georgetown as a 32 degree Mason, was a member of the ANZAR Shriners, as well as a Scottish Rites member. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, feeding the squirrels and being with his family and friends. A celebration of Roy Farrells life is scheduled for 10:00am on Tuesday, June27, 2006 at Sunsets Westville-Urbas Funeral Home at 414 S. States St. in Westville. Pastor Brian Johnson will officiate the service. Final resting place will be at Sandusky Cemetery in Westville with military honors being conducted by the Westville American Legion Post #51. Visitation will be held between the hours of 4-8pm on Monday, June 26, 2006 at the funeral home with a Masonic Rites Service to be conducted at 7:30pm, on Monday, at the funeral home. The public is invited to attend. Memorial donations may be made in Roys name to the American Cancer Society and/or Carle Hospice.
