Panama City, FL - Rosemary “Rosie” Sanks, 70, of Panama City, FL, formerly of Danville, passed away at 6:55 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Panama City Florida Bay Medical Center. She was born on April 10, 1944 in Canton, IL, the daughter of Wilbur and Dorothy (Fugate) Lane. She married Phillip “Phil” Ray Sanks on March 27, 1963 in Danville. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2005. Surviving are two sons, Chad Sanks of Danville and Johnnie Sanks of Danville; daughter, Darla M. Elias of Panama City, FL and son in law (Fi) Manuel Elias, whom Rosie thought of as a son; a brother, Tom Lane; six grandchildren, Joshua A. Elias, Scott P. Elias, Brandon Sanks, Dallas Sanks, Jessica Sanks, and Emyle Sanks; and three great-grandchildren, Rylie Sanks, Ella Sanks, and Carleigh Sanks. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Junior Lane. Rosie was a Danville High School graduate and a past member at Lincoln United Methodist Church. She had worked as a store clerk, nurses aide, and a child care giver, but especially enjoyed being a homemaker so she could care for her family. A service to celebrate the life of Rosie Sanks will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Drew Mentzer will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, from 5-8 PM, also at Sunset in Danville.
