Rosemary Ruth Edwards, 85, of Danville passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2022, with family by her side. She was born in Danville on October 26, 1936, the daughter of Ralph and Leona {Warner} Hawkins. On November 24, 1955, Rosie married the love of her life Donald E. "Poke" Edwards, he survives.
Rosie is also survived by her children Penny Sue (Joe) Wilson, Shawn Jewell (Rita) Edwards; grandchildren, Chris (Monique) Wilson, Shane (Tammy) Wilson, Samantha (Brad) Wilson, Tara Ray, Sabrina Moulton, Kelly (Sophia) Taylor, Bryan (Erin); great grandchildren, Gunner, Levi, Kaden, Peyton, Makenzie, Austin, Brooke, Maddi, Ava, Elan, Marley, Hannah, Alexia, Keira, Carol, Carter, Weston, Madelyn, Coleman; sister, Elizabeth "Betty" (John) King and twin brother, Larry R. (Margaret) Hawkins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Leona, son, Kevin Edwards, brothers, Robert W. Hawkins, and George William "Bill" Hawkins.
Rosie was Majorette all four years at Danville High School. She worked at JCPenney in Danville before transferring to the Bloomington location to be with Poke as he attended college. Later she also worked at Sunsets grave blanket and vault liner factories.
Most of her life Rosie was a homemaker. She loved home making and raising her family. Whenever anyone needed help, an understanding ear, or a hug you could always find Rosie right there. She was a life-long member of Old Union Church of Christ which later became Cross Roads Christian Church. She and Poke helped with the church youth groups. She was on various activity committees, helped with Bible School, and was a call-person for donations of food for funeral dinners. She also helped Poke with the church golf outings.
Rosie loved family get togethers with her brothers and sisters and loved their spouses as if they too where her siblings. She was especially interested in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed Friday night get togethers with Shawn, Rita, and family. She had three very special friends, Pat, Phylis, and Mary.
She felt no life was ever complete without the Lord and cats (at one time she had 18 cats). In her spare time, she loved to work jigsaw puzzles.
