Rosemary Corbin

Catlin- Etta Rosemary Corbin, 92, of Catlin, passed away at 2:43 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Presence Covenant in Urbana. She was born on April 16, 1921 in Linton, IN to Kenneth Dale and Elva Beasley Hattery. She married Walter A. Corbin on October 14, 1939 in Linton, IN. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Merlyn “Buzz”) Ritchie of Catlin; sister, Betty (Dr. Robert) Abel of Wakarusa, IN; daughter-in-law Mary Corbin and her family of Oakwood; grandchildren, Bradley Corbin of Danville, Craig (Sharon) Corbin of Cumming, GA, Angela Horton of Catlin, and Dr. Scott Ritchie of Danville; great-grandchildren, Amber and Ashley Corbin, Sam and Grace Horton, and Andrew, Hope, and Alex Ritchie; a great-great grandson, Andre Buchhaas; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Monty Douglas Corbin, sister, Janet Weaver, a brother, Bill Hattery, and a great-grandson, Andre Corbin. Rosemary was a beautician and owned her own beauty shop for over 41 years. She and her husband also owned and operated Walts Washing Well Laundromat in Catlin. Along with a group of mothers, Rosemary helped to start the first Kindergarten in Catlin. She enjoyed traveling, and especially loved to watch the Cubs and Indiana Basketball. A service to celebrate the life of Rosemary Corbin will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Nancy Wilson will officiate. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, August 20, also at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville. Memorials may be made to Catlin United Methodist Church or Catlin Historical Society.
