CHAMPAIGN - Rose M. McGiles, 67, of Champaign, passed away Monday evening, June 22, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born August 17, 1947 in Danville, Illinois, she was the daughter of Walter and Dolores (Trimble) Tatar. She married Dennis McGiles on August 14, 1965 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Rantoul. Rose was a registered nurse, working for various hospitals in the area. She worked the majority of her nursing career in the emergency room, and with kidney dialysis. Rose was a member of the St. Elizabeth Altar and Rosary Society in Thomasboro. She enjoyed reading and golfing. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. She spent every moment she could with them cheering them on through life. Rose is survived by her husband of over 49 years, Dennis McGiles of Champaign; three sons, Michael Todd (Joyce) McGiles of Jacksonville, Dennis Mark (Janna) McGiles of Monticello and Matthew Gregory (Kathy DeFries) McGiles of Orland Hills; four siblings, Ann (Virgil) Langley of Danville, Walter (Judy) Tatar of Rantoul, Katherine (John) Carey of Colbert, Oklahoma, and Tom Cooper of Mattoon; a sister-in-law, Sue Gosser of Champaign; a brother-in-law, Mike (Pamela Lowery) Hammer of Wheaton; eight grandchildren, Molly McGiles, Jacob McGiles, Elizabeth McGiles, Amanda McGiles, Taylor McGiles, Nick DeFries, Emilyee McGiles and Rachel DeFries; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, George Tatar, Mike Tatar, and Raymond Tatar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 pm Friday, June 26, 2015 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Rantoul. The rosary will be recited prior to mass, starting at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rantoul. Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society and Presence Hospice.
