Rose Calamari

Rose Calamari, 87, of Danville, IL, passed away at 8:52 PM January 4, 2013 at Liberty Village where she had been a resident for the last few years. She was born on January 10, 1925 in Cresslough, Ireland, the daughter of Patrick and Mary (McGinley) Murphy. She met her husband to be john Calamari for the first time in Scotland while he was stationed there during the World War II. They reunited in Chicago, IL following the war and were married in 1947. He preceded her in death in 2001. Survivors include three sons- John E. Calamari of Kenosha, WI, Art (Amy) Calamari of Bloomington, IL, Paul (Andrea) Calamari of Danville, one daughter- June Steward of Marco Island, FL, two sisters- Jo and Pat, nine grandchildren- Reid, Pat, Robert, Kelsey, Kirby, Arin, Colin, Clay, Annan and two great- grandchildren- Gram and Colbie Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings- Anna, Eileen and Ed. Rose was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing golf, playing cards and playing bingo with her family and friends at Liberty Village. Rose was also a long time member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. A visitation for Rose will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville from 4:00-6:00 PM. Entombment will take place Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Chicago, IL at 1:00 PM at All Saints Cemetery and Mausoleum. Memorials can be made in Rose's name to St. Paul's Catholic Church.
