Rosalie Ward, 90, of Georgetown, passed away at 6:43pm, Monday, December 7, 2015, at Presence USMC, Danville. She was born on December 20, 1924, in Princeton, IN, the daughter of Forrest Sr. and Laura Jane Ferguson. She was united in marriage to Raymond Ward on May 20, 1946, until his passing on May 12, 1993. Rosie grew up in Princeton, Indiana. Moved to Illinois in 1964 and settled in Georgetown in 1969. Rosie was a homemaker her entire life first helping with younger siblings at home and then being a proud wife. Rosie was married to the love of her life, Raymond Ward until his death. Rosie had a garden for many years and continued to take care of her own lawn every summer. Rosie also enjoyed going to Long John Silvers for lunch with friends, attending Church, watching the deer each evening in her backyard and spending time with friends and neighbors especially for cookouts and holidays. Rosie used to be known as "Sunshine" on the CB/Ham radio; she would communicate with her husband as he drove to and from work and many friends throughout the years. Rosie was known for her chicken and noodles and banana bread anytime there was a neighborhood loss or reason to celebrate. Rosie had a great sense of humor and would easily get tickled over a story or a memory she would recall. Rosie also enjoyed watching the neighborhood children Pataki's, Chandlers, Ross' and the Melton's grow up. In her later years, she enjoyed visits from the Zimmerman's, Grants and children of the many she watched grow up! She is survived by: her sister, Martha Ferguson; sister-in-law, Marietta Ferguson; nieces, Phyllis, Kathy, Jackie and Renee; nephews, Anthony, Dewayne, Stan, Jim, Roy and Jerald; and friends, Bonnie Melton, Ted Bradford, Charlotte Reynolds, Michelle Zimmerman & Stuart Winland, Dennis & Tee Grant, and Jim & Sandy Chandler. Rosie was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Raymond; her brothers, Horace, Emerson, Darwin and Truman; and her sisters, Alice, Florence, Flora and Mabel. A celebration of Rosie's life will be held at 12:30pm, Friday, December 11, 2015, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home. Visitation will be held two hours prior on Friday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association.
