Rosaleen Mearl Knapp, 82, of Danville, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at home. She was born October 1, 1929, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rock Island, IL, there only daughter of the late, Edward J. and Aileen Josephine (Curry) Martini. She graduated from Monmouth High School and attended the American Institute of Commerce. She married Joseph William Knapp of Cordova, IL on June 25, 1955 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan, IL. Rosaleen worked at Fashion of Rock Island before moving to Danville, IL with her husband Joe. Later, she worked at the University of Illinois Veterinarian Clinic in Champaign, IL, as well as a domestic engineer for 50 years. She was a devoted animal lover, and also enjoyed spending time with her Bridge Club and caring for her pet poodles. Rosaleen was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, in Danville, and a supporter of the Danville Symphony Orchestra Foundation. She is survived by one brother-in-law, Charles L. "Boots" Knapp of Port Byron, IL; two sister-in-laws, Lois M. Arbour of Ozark, MO, and Phyllis J. Butterfield of Geneseo, IL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Rosaleen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Joseph in 2005. The Knapp family would like to thank the staff of Songer Homecare Placement Service in Danville, IL, particularly Amy Songer, Debra Tooley, and Teresa Pridemore for their tireless service in caring for Rosaleen in her final years. A Wake service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville, with a Rosary service to begin at 10:00am on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Visitation will follow until 12:00pm. A separate visitation will be held at 12:00pm-1:30pm on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Gibson Funeral Home located in Port Byron, IL, with funeral services to follow at 1:30pm on Friday, also at the funeral home. Pastor Larry Misfeldt will officiate. Burial service will be conducted at Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island, IL. Memorial condolences may be made to the donor's choice.
