Ronnie Rex Parke

Ronnie Rex Parke, 89, of Georgetown, Illinois, passed away on August 29, 2026, with his family at his home.

Born on August 7, 1937, in Georgetown, Illinois, Ronnie lived a life marked by devotion to his family, pride in his work, and faithful service to his country. He entered the United States Army in October 1958 and proudly served until February 1960. He then completed his duty with the Army Reserves in February 1962. His military service remained one of the accomplishments he held most dear.

Ronnie worked at Hyster for 20 years before going to the VA, where he retired from the maintenance department. He was known above all as a man who loved his family. Among the things that brought him the greatest pride were his service to his country, his son Brian, and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Brian Parke, and Brian’s wife, Karina; his grandchildren, Jacob Parke and his wife, Gabriella, Maghen Wells and her husband, Eddie, and Adalyn Bowman and her husband, Jason; and his great-grandchildren, Mia, Emma, Levi, Janey Mae, and Thea Jo. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Shirley Parke and Mary Parke, as well as many nieces and nephews. Those who knew Ronnie will remember the steady love he had for his family and the pride he took in each generation.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Parke; his mother, Eunice Richardson Parke; and his brothers, Robert Parke and Larry Parke.

A Graveside service with military rights will be conducted at 11am on October 1, 2026, at McKendree Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center's Houghton-Lesure Chapel in Georgetown, Illinois are in charge of arrangements.
