Ronald M. Dago' DeBarba, 72, of Berryton, KS, formerly of Danville/Westville area, passed away at 5:45am, Friday, September 23, 2011, at Stormont-Vail Health Care, Topeka, KS. He was born on October 7, 1938, in Danville, IL, the son of Maurice and Martha {Johnson} DeBarba, both deceased. He had previously married Barbara Lewis and later, he was wed to Deborah Donaldson. In 1984, was married to Mary Watson. She will miss him. He is survived by: his son, Douglas (Carla) DeBarba of Grape Creek, IL; his step-sons, Michael (Meagen) Vaughn of Little Elm, TX, David Gumm of Germany, & Richard (Karen) Watson of Berryton, KS; his step-daughters, Betty Sissy' Reynolds of Rossville & Geneva Vaughn of Westville; his grandchildren, Douglas DeBarba, Brandy DeBarba, Chaz Vaughn, Zachary Vaughn, Jaiden Vaughn, Mady Beemer, Kailee Beemer, Noah Beemer, Jonah Beemer, MacKenzie Reynolds, Madison Reynolds, Macie Vaughn, Kyra Digby, Colton Digby-Jackett, Harlan Watson, Shelby Watson, Alexis Watson, Emily Watson, & Makennah Long; and his sister, Sharon Anderson of Greer, SC. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Michael Watson. In his early years, Dago worked for E.S.C.O in Danville and also at Gastoff Ornament Factory. He then went into law enforcement starting in Westville, serving for a time as the Chief of Police. He then went to work at Vermilion County Sheriff's Department, retiring at the rank of Sergeant. He also worked part-time at Catlin Police Department. All told, he served in law enforcement for 34 years. Dago was a member of the North Bay Fellowship Church in Ingleside, TX, and a 3rd Degree Master Mason with Anchor Lodge 980, as well as, a 32degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Valley of Danville. He was member of the Vermilion Fishing Club. He had been a volunteer fireman with Catlin Protection District. He enjoyed going fishing and hunting, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids. A celebration of Dago's life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Tom Schoenherr officiating. A Committal service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be 4-8pm, Friday, September 30, 2011, at the funeral chapel with Masonic Services at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, his family wishes memorials to be made to North Bay Fellowship Church of Ingleside, TX, or to Berryton Baptist Church of Berryton, KS.
