Ronald "Ron" Wayne Foster, 64, of Danville, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Monday, March 26th, 2012 at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana. Ron was born on June 15th, 1947, in Danville, the son of Carl "Kelly" E. and Virginia (Compton) Foster. He married Patricia "Pat" L. Ballard Bennett on November 4th, 1995 at the Moose Lodge in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by two step-daughters- Linda (Timothy) Pearson of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, their children- Kayla, Leanna and Timothy "Jojo" Jr. and Laura (Perry Hardesty) Bennett of Danville and her children- Jonica (Darreck) Hillard Merrill and Bodhi Tuttle; two sisters- Sue (Sam) Garmon of Danville and Mary (Raymond Myers) Wolfe of Oakwood; two nieces- Nicole (Jeremy) Zaayer of Danville and Tori (Kyle) Appl of St. Joseph; 2 great-nieces; 1 great-nephew; sister-in-laws- Nancy (James) Berry of Lakeland, Florida, their children- Jimmy and Jeff Berry and Robin (Bob) Turner of Danville, their children- Tyler and Travis Turner; brother-in-law- John (Stacie) Ballard of Danville and their children- Jordan and Alexis Ballard; and close friends- George King of Westville and Cindy Phillips of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Carl Foster II and mother-in-law- Edna Ballard. Ron attended Danville High School. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971, serving during the Vietnam War, where he earned the Purple Heart. He worked at Lakeview Hospital in the Maintenance Department and later worked for the Danville Housing Authority, where he retired in 1992. He was a member of Moose Lodge #1001, where he served as a Past Governor, Second Degree Legion, Third Degree Fellowship and a 25 Club Member. He was also a past co-franchise holder of the Tilton Panthers Youth Football. He enjoyed attending his grandson and nephew football games, golfing, pool, horseshoes, woodworking, bowling, fishing, playing cards and telling stories. He will be missed by the morning coffee crowd at Two Brothers and the Village Garden. He took in his mother-in-laws cat with some resistance. He called her "Shadow" because she followed him everywhere. She dearly adored him, was always at the door to greet him when he came home, asked for her treats, would jump up in his lap for his loving scratching and just to watch TV with him. She followed him around in his daily morning and nighttime routines and would always wake him up at 5:30 daily. A Celebration of the Life of Ronald "Ron" Wayne Foster will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 30th, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post #210. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Moose Rites Fellowship at 7:45 p.m.. The family would like for everyone to come in their casual clothes for the visitation and service. The family also requests no cologne or perfume to be worn due to allergies.
