Ronald “Ug” Trosper, 67, of Tilton, passed away at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center. He was born on December 3, 1946 in Danville, the son of John W. and Betty (Watson) Trosper. He is survived by his soul mate and “boss” of twenty three years, Peggy Jaeger Boggess of Tilton, his mother, Betty Trosper of Danville, four children, Mark (Kim) Sells of Westville, Heather (Marcelo) Ledesma of Danville, Shannon (Robert Fry) Trosper of Danville, Ryan (Jodi Reed) Trosper of Danville, four brothers, Larry (Mary) Hill of Texas, Bill (Mary Ann) Kingore of Tilton, Larry (Ethel) Kingore of Westville, John “Buck” Trosper of Oklahoma, one sister, Donna Hood of Indiana, twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren as well as Peggys son Eric (Laura) Boggess of Cayuga, IN and their two children. Ronald was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Terry “Dode” Trosper. Ron was a 1965 graduate of Danville High School, and was the first Viking mascot. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966, and also attended Eastern Illinois University as well as Southern Illinois University. Ron worked for the Hyster Company and Quaker Oats, as well as being a self employed mechanic. He was an avid builder and driver of several race cars. Ron enjoyed wood-working, gardening, plowing snow, and spending time with his special dog “Zoey”. Ron was a wonderful father, grandfather and a great friend too many. He will be dearly missed. A celebration of Ronalds life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor James Blue officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Per the familys wishes please dress in comfortable clothes. Thats the way Ron would want it. Burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Rons name to the American Alzheimers Association or the American Heart Association.
