Ronald J. Stricklett, 69, of Danville, Illinois passed away at 11:41 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2007 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. He was born Sept 6, 1938, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Frank and Louise (Wigner) Stricklett. Ronald is survived by six children, Thomas (Deborah) Mason of Camby, Indiana, Mildred (Kevin) Hajny of Anderson, Indiana, Theresa (Randy) Cherry of Tipton, Indiana, Patricia (Mark) Hester of Anderson, Indiana, John Stricklett of the U.S. Army (Fort Hood, Texas) and Daniel (Dennese)Stricklett of Westville, Illinois, thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jim Stricklett. Ron served six years active duty in the Air Force and retired as a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army Reserves in 1989 with 34 years of service. He also retired from General Motors. Ron was a member of the UAW, NRA and the American Legion Post 210. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, guns and shooting at the firing range. Ron enjoyed and loved his dogs, the many he has had throughout the years. A few of Rons special friends are Mabel Boernson, Norma Holycross and Pat Edwards A celebration of the life of Ronald J. Stricklett will be held Friday, October 5, 2007, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Ryan Remole officiating. Burial will be in the Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9-11a.m. Friday, October 5, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made in Ronalds name to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
