Ronald Spivey passed away on September 19, 2025 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was born January 12, 1948 to George and Clara Spivey in Lebanon, Indiana. On December 7th, 1980, he married the love of his life, Tess (Miller) Spivey.
Ron was a man among men, and his word was his bond. His family meant everything to him. He was a member of Local 18 Heat & Frost Insulators since 1966. After retiring as an insulator, he became a regular fixture at the Cayuga Red & White as well as Clark’s Chevrolet for many years. He also became a member of the Cayuga Lions Club, where he served as District Governor and Club Secretary for many years.
He was very passionate about vision screenings for children for all local schools. He was very involved and excited to call Bingo at the fair, as well as working the food tent at the Hillclimb. He also spent many years coaching Little League baseball.
When he wasn’t serving his community his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in every activity that they were involved in and rarely missed an event. In addition to his family, he also enjoyed riding his Road King Harley and was a bird enthusiast.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers Jim and Rick Spivey; his sister Helen (Sis) Shaw; and his mother and father-in-law, Ray and Alma Miller.
He is survived by his loving wife Tess Spivey; his children: Tony (Punky) Spivey, James (Amaria) Spivey, Teresa (Kraig) Swadener, Kenneth (Tracey) Spivey, and Todd (Brody) Spivey; and his grandchildren Tristan, Ariel, Dakota, Gabriel, Daelynn, Lyra, Torin, Bryce, Juliunna, Camron, Izaak, and Azton. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Aria and Andrew; several nieces and nephews; and 2 special friends, Dave Davis and George Keith.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm EST at Sunset Funeral Home’s DeVerter Chapel, located at 215 N. Division Street in Cayuga.
