Ronald 'Ron' Sbertoli

Ronald "Ron" Sbertoli, 75, of Tilton, passed away at 7:14pm, Monday, August 27, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on December 9, 1942, in Chicago, IL, the son of Raymond Dettloff and Ester Kalas and later when his mother married Carl Sbertoli was adopted by him. He was united in marriage to Loretta M. Emory on June 16, 1962, in Chicago, IL. In 1964, Ron came to Tilton and worked at Nichols Loan and Spicer Insurance. He then retired from TeePak after 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and served on the Parish Council beginning in 2002 and was an Extension Council President. He was the past president of 4H Foundation and was the first Plan Commission Chairman. Ron served on the Tilton Fire Department and was also part of the first group of EMTs in Vermilion County. He coordinated the Rescue team at TeePak and was member of the Hazmat, Spill Team, Rope Rescue, & Fire Brigade at TeePak. Ron also was an original Internet Masters in Illinois and was the IT Chairman of IGHS. He also was a member of the Vermilion County Youth Foundation. Ron served as a member of the Tilton Zoning Board. In his spare time, Ron enjoyed playing Santa Claus, researching genealogy, as well as teaching & working with computers. Those who will miss him include: his wife, Loretta Sbertoli of Tilton; his daughters, Deneen Schendel & Gina Tanner, both of Danville; his grandchildren, Tayler (William Towell) Schendel, Madyson Schendel, & Dalton Rich; and his sister, Carol Ann (Jerry) Blachowski of Streamwood, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, September 1, 2018, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1303 N Walnut St, Danville, with Father Bo Schmitt officiating. Visitation will be 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, August 31, 2018, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville with a Rosary service to be held at 3:30pm. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Memorial donations may be given in his name to St. Paul's Catholic Church.
