Ronald "Ron" Russell

Ronald “Ron” Russell, 86, of Danville passed away at 9:21 AM on December 1, 2024 at La Bella of Danville.

Ron was born on August 23, 1938 the son of Roy and Mary (Dick) Russell in Danville, IL. He was previously married to both Catherine Lacey and Geri (Lutz) Barney.

Survivors include his children, Eddie (Cindy) Russell of Roseville, CA, Valerie King of Danville, IL, Steven Russell of Tavares, FL, Susie (Mark) Woolwine of Veedersburg, IN and Christa Russell of Covington, IN. Ron is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four siblings, Rosemary (David) French of Covington, IN, Connie Russell of Kenosha, WI, Donnie Russell of Danville, IL and Mike (Marla) Russell of Danville, IL.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Dalton Russell, one brother, Bill Redman and one nephew, Donnie Russell.

Ron served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed spending his free time playing the guitar, banjo, and harmonica and in his younger years was in a band. Ron also enjoyed fishing, was a talented handyman, and with his interest in horticulture, was an accomplished landscaper.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Kiley Garrison will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers & plants, memorials may be made in Ron’s memory to a charity or organization of donor’s choice.
