Ronald (Ron) Latoz went to his home in heaven on December 21, 2021. He will be greeted by his parents, Adam & Mary Jane Latoz; his brother Jon Latoz and Johns wife Carol; his Father and Mother in-law Cleo & Avonelle Mitchell; and sister-in-law Shirley Rothwall. Ron was born in Flint, Michigan on December 1, 1942. He moved to Ridge Farm, IL with his parents around the age of 10. He graduated from Ridge Farm High School in 1961 where he played football and was known for being fun loving and pulling all the shenanigans that high school boys were prone to do in that era. Three years later he met the love of his life, Sharon Mitchell, when he helped her start her car at the Doghouse Drive-in. They married on May 1, 1965, at the Ridge Farm Friends Church. Over the next 56 years God blessed them with 3 children Kevin (Kristi) Latoz, Kraig (Suzanne) Latoz & Karla (Brad) Lewis; 9 Grandchildren Lucas, Levi, Samantha, Brittany, Kody, Lance, Trenton, Chloe, Quinn; 4 Great Grandchildren Alexa, Kendra, Marilyn, Stanley. They will all miss him. His grandchildren will have memories of sleepovers and waking up to grandpa flipping pancakes in the kitchen. The entire family will always remember his jokes, silly antics, big heart and practical wisdom from his life experiences. He loved planting trees and watching the birds in his backyard. Over the years he had been an avid fisherman and hunter. After retirement he took up golf and enjoyed spending time on the course with his friends and family. Ron was a jack-of-all-trades and worked in many different fields throughout his life. He ultimately retired from the Danville Correctional Center where he had been a Correctional Officer for 20+ years. Above all else, Ron loved God, his family and his Church. He was never shy about sharing his faith and never met a stranger. A celebration of Rons life will be held at 12:00pm, Monday, December 27, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor Dan Kitinoja officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00am to 12:00pm on Monday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Calvary Baptist Renovation Project. Please join his family in sharing memories through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
