Ronald 'Ron' L. Edwards

Ronald L. "Ron" Edwards, 71, of Covington, passed away at 5:55pm, Sunday, July 5, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital, Williamsport. He was born on March 2, 1944, in Danville, IL, the son of Leroy and Mildred "Millie" {Setser} Edwards. He was united in marriage to Joanne Grills on October 1, 1966, in Clifton, IL. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his son, Jeffrey (Shelia) Edwards of Covington; his daughter, Lisa (David) Heimes of Covington; his grandchildren, Hannah (Max Smart) Heimes, Nicholas Heimes, & Dalton Heimes; his mother-in-law, Velma Grills of Clifton, IL; his sister-in-law, Donna (Larry) Elliot of Chebanse, IL; his nephew, Jarod (Liz) Elliott of Chebanse, IL; his niece, Kendra (Larry) Regnier of Chebanse, IL; his 2 great nephews; and two great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ron was a proud Veteran of the US Air Force serving during Vietnam. He worked at Hyster/Nacco in Danville until his retirement in 2008. Ron volunteered his time coaching sports. He loved sports and loved watching his grandkids play. In his spare time, he was an avid reader. Above all else, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to St. Vincent Home Health Care of Veedersburg, IN, and St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, IN, for all of their care and support during this time. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, July 10, 2015, at Sunset's Covington Chapel with Pastor Bob Fairchild officiating. Visitation will be held 4pm-8pm, Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Hicks Cemetery in Perrysville with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #210.
