Ronald 'Ron' Jones

Ronald A. Ron Jones, 69, of Danville, passed away at 8:56am on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Provena USMC in Danville. Ron was born on August 7, 1939, in Danville, the son of Everett P. and Kathleen H. (Gouty) Jones. On December 31, 1959, Ron married Dottie Burton at the Catlin Church of Christ by Rev. Reggie Thomas. Surviving Ron is his wife, Dottie, 3 daughters, Debbie (Robert) Wheaton of Greencastle, PA., Diana Lewis of Danville, and Rhonda (Jerry) Olson of Tremont, IL. His five grandchildren, Angie (Brian) Riley of Wilmington N.C., Josh (Jennifer) Lewis of Monticello, IL, Katie Lewis of Danville, and Becca and Jeremy Olson of Tremont, IL. One great-grandchild, Davis Riley of Wilmington, N.C., and a special little neighbor friend, Jenna Ann Kingrey. His 3 sisters, Sandra K. Potter, Nancy L. (Bill) Hamilton, and Pam (Marvin) Cooley, all of Danville, one brother-in-law, James (Jean) Burton of Westville, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, and brother-in-law, Steve Potter precedes Ron in death. Ron was a Westville High School graduate and a member of the Union Corner United Methodist Church in Danville. He worked at General Electric in Danville for 34 years as a supervisor, and then continued with Valmont Electric, retiring in 1997. Ron later worked at Flex-N-Gate in Urbana until 2001 when he started enjoying retirement. He was always a lifetime farmer in the Danville area. Ron enjoyed golfing, gardening, bowling, farming, and his grandkids and dear friends who will greatly miss him.
