Danville- Ronald "Ron" Lee Jacobs, 68, of Danville passed away at 4:00 AM on Friday, May 4, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 22, 1944 in Danville to Hubert Saxton and Jacquelyn Moudy Jacobs. He married Gloria Goodrum on November 23, 1990 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are daughters, Christine Jacobs of Danville, Jennifer (Kevin) Nolan of Tuscola, and Beth (Lloyd) Ravens of Wellington; son Eric Goodrum of Danville; a sister, Judy Tevebaugh of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Samantha Jacobs, Riley and Duncan Nolan, Beau, William, Emma, Mason, and Henry Ravens, and Blaiz Burton; and a niece Julie McCarthy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Dylan Nolan. Ron graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1968 with a bachelor's degree and he worked as a claims adjuster for CCMSI from 1986 until his retirement. He was an avid collector of antiques, enjoyed flower gardening and spending time on the computer, and was a long time proud and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Ron loved cooking for his family at their regular cookouts, but also making cookies and fudge for his co-workers at the office. He especially adored his grandchildren. They enjoyed his great sense of humor and he liked to always pick out the perfect Christmas present for their stockings. He will be missed by all that knew him. A service to celebrate the life of Ron Jacobs will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Reverend Jan Reeder will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, May 7, also at Sunset in Danville.
