Ronald J. McDonough 82, of Mahomet, IL. passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 19, 1941 in Rockford, IL, the son of John & Doris (Heise) McDonough. He was an incredibly intelligent man who graduated with high honors as class valedictorian and continued on to take electrical engineering classes at the University of Illinois, but ultimately decided to start his own construction company & was a general contractor.
Ron married his wife Kathryn, whom he lovingly referred to as 'Doll Baby', on April 28, 1972 in Champaign, IL. They began this new chapter of their life by merging their lives & children to create a new family & adventure for them. Ron rose through the ranks of the Scottish Rite Masonry to the 32nd degree, and he was also a Shriner. He was a proud business owner & ran his construction company for many years with his oldest stepson, Terry, by his side. There was no project that he couldn't do, & he built custom residential homes & did some commercial work as well in Lake Havasu City, AZ for many years. He enjoyed working & creating gorgeous wood pieces, fishing any chance that he got, and shooting for sport with everyone in the family. He prided himself on his work ethic & always did everything possible to create what his customers wanted for their homes/businesses. Family was also incredibly important to him, and he truly enjoyed the weekly family dinner that was generally held at his home each week. He was an incredibly hard worker, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn of 52 years, daughters; Rhonda (Andy) McDonough-Viering & Jane (Doug) Schneider, sons; Terry (Kim) Eyestone, Randy Eyestone, Rick (Debbie) Eyestone, grandchildren; Zack, Travis, Amy, Milea, Ayden, RhyLee, Kenny (Rose), Katrina, Lory, Rachel and Grace, sister, Laurie, brothers; Patrick, Chuck, Ed (Darlene) & his precious beloved dog Sasha.

The Best
God saw you getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So, he put his arms around you
And whispered, "Come to Me".
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
