Ronald L. Ronnie Young, 67, of Westville, passed away peacefully at 1:35pm, Sunday, November 8, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ronnie was born March 17, 1942, in Danville to Charles A. and Candace V. (Sperry) Young. He was a Danville High School Graduate. On April 22, 1961, he married Betty Anne James at the Westville Congregational Church. He leaves behind his wife, Betty Anne, his daughters, Rhonda (Tim) Fridmanski of Brandon, MS, and Brenda (Denny) Vinson of Danville. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren; Kyle, Kaitlyn, and Timothy Fridmanski, as well as, Brandy, Davy, Candy, and Danny Lewis, all of whom will miss him dearly. He leaves his brother, Charles Dean Young, and two sisters, Charla Canale and Candace (Bob) Turello. Also missing him are two great grandchildren, Joshua Ryan Wood and Alivia Shea Lewis, and several nieces and nephews. Ronnie worked as a locomotive engineer for thirty-four years until his retirement with CSX in 1999. He was fan of the Fighting Illini, Chicago Bears, Westville Tigers, Indianapolis Colts, and a die-hard Cubs fan. He always believed this year was the next year. In his earlier years, Ronnie enjoyed cheering on his friend and racecar driver, Bubby Jones, although his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his loving wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He will be missed by a list of great friends and neighbors, but he would surely ask for all to Keep Smiling. He was preceded in death by parents and grandson, Ryan Lee Lewis. A celebration of Ronnies life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm, Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Westville High School Sports Booster Program.
