Ronald Eugene Lee, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, community spirit, and family.

Ron was born on September 9, 1942, in Hammond, Ind, to Emerson E. and Dolores J. (Cook) Lee. He grew up in the Batestown area and attended Diamond Grade School, Oakwood High School, and Danville Junior College. He was known for his friendliness, his dedication to his family, and his commitment to the Oakwood community.

He married Janice Wolfe in Oakwood on June 10, 1962. Together they bought and operated Rons Drives In. His other places of employment included Cast and Wolfe Hardware, TeePak, and he retired from Cozad Asset Management in 2009.

Outside of work, Ron served on the boards of the Oakwood Library District, Oakwood Fire District, Oakwood Youth Football, Newtown youth baseball, and Oakwood Mens Club. He was a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church. Ron found joy in his family, extended family, and community. He liked reading, genealogy, local history, golf, and attending his grandchildrens activities and sporting events.

Ron is survived by his wife Janice; his children Todd (Sonna), and Tim (Dawn); his grandchildren Katie (Jeff), Logan (Allison), Cameron (Matte), Brodie (Jade), and Parker; three great-grandchildren Lennox, Bridges and Recker; and his brother Chris (Debbie) Mosher and sister Carol (Cloyd) Coon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two step-fathers (Hank Mosher and Clarence Champion), and a daughter, Tammy Jo.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Pastor Trevor Oetting will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Rons memory to Oakwood United Methodist Church or Oakwood Community Education Foundation.
