Stateline - Ronald Eugene Ervin Sr. 77, of Stateline Ind. Passed away peacefully on Monday May 11, 2015 at Hoopeston Hospital, in Hoopeston. Ronald was born the son of Frank and Eileene Ervin on March 22, 1938. On September 15, 1962 Ronald married his sweetie Ellen Myler and the two enjoyed over 50 years of marriage and family life together. Ronald is survived by his wife Ellen Ervin of Stateline, Ind.; his children Patti (Rick) Porter of Danville, Ron (Lisa) Ervin Jr. of Tilton, and Beth (Kevin) Barnes of Perrysville, Ind.; his grandchildren Ricky (Amanda) Porter Jr., Emilee (David) Hardesty, Jessica (Cody) Barnes, Taylor Barnes, Jeremy Ervin, and Nikki Ervin; his great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jaidyn, Rylee, Demi, Kayden, Benjamin, Eli, Karsyn, and Mason; his sister Donna Allen, many loving extended family members, and his cherished family pets Gracie and Bubba. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Eileene Ervin, and his brother Donald Ervin. Ronald graduated from John Greer High School in Hoopeston in 1956, a few years later he enlisted in the Army from 1959 to 1962. On September 15, 1962 Ronald married Ellen and the two began a wonderful life together. Over the years Ronald enjoyed his time with the Vermilion Fishing Club and the Frontier Twirler Square Dance Club. He loved spending time bowling, camping, and collecting model trains. Most of all, Ronald was a family man and cherished every moment with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held for Ronald E. Ervin on Thursday May 14, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will be held on Wednesday May 13, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home.
