Ronald Carney

Ronald Lee Carney of Olivet passed away May 14, 2026 in Paris IL. He was born July 31, 1940 in Danville IL to Verlin and Eloise (Coate) Carney. He spent his entire life in Olivet growing up in the apple orchards his grandfather established (Coate's Orchard) and later building his own house there. There was nothing he couldn't do and lived his life to the fullest. In his younger years he put on ski shows at the Sportsman's Club in Georgetown and the Boat club in Danville with his good friend Otto. He built a human kite himself and was the first to soar thru the air behind the boat on Lake Vermilion. He did specialty auto painting, built from scratch a 3 wheeled motorcycle (before anyone knew what those were!), he was a skydiver, wood worker, bow deer hunter, and a fisherman. After retiring from 33 years at Bohn in Danville he obtained his pilots license and owned 2 planes. His last goal of owning a made to order Corvette was just obtained a few years ago. He definitely left nothing on the table.
He is survived by his daughter Ronda Carney of Paris IL and 2 grandsons Scott (Randi) Potter of St Joseph IL and Andrew (Marta) Collins of Paris IL. 4 great grandchildren Christopher, Elexis, Gabrielle, and Evan. Also, his cousins Phillip Coate and Janet Weller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his last wife, Glenda, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Per his wishes no services will be held.
