Ronald Hicks, 46, of Covington, IN, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 1, 1970 in Danville, IL, the son of Sam and Donna (Czajka) Hicks. They both survive. He was previously married to Robin Blew and Kim Hicks who have stayed close to the family through Ron's battle. Ron will be deeply missed by his parents grandmother, Betty Hicks, four children; Dylan Smith, Hunter Hicks, Caroline Hicks and Alexandra Hicks, sister, Vicki (Clint) Kilby, nieces; Mariah (Cole) Hall, Madi Kilby and Kristin (James) Vaught, nephews; Zach (Amanda) Kilby, Dylan (Paula) Kilby and one great nephew, Bentley Hall. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Frank Czajka, Betty and Morrie Gulstine and Nelson Hicks. Ron worked at Masterguard in Veedersburg, IN prior to becoming a millwright for Nucor Steel in Crawfordsville where he worked for over 15 years. He was a member of Second Church of Christ in Danville and was a very active person, always on the go. He loved spending time with his children, working in the yard, traveling to the beach and he was a certified scuba diver. His family and friends will miss him dearly. A celebration of life memorial service for Ron will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Sunset's Covington Chapel with Drew Mentzer officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM prior to the service. At a later date Ron will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in Ron's name.
