Romain Andre Tranchant, Jr., 86, of Danville, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville, Illinois. He was born on March 22, 1935, in Georgetown, IL, the son of Romain Piere and Yvonne {Delanois} Tranchant, Sr. He is survived by his children, Julie Mornar, Nick (Diane) Tranchant, Brett Tranchant, Robert Tranchant, & Angela (Mario) Pani; his five grandchildren; and his siblings, Fud Tranchant, Gus Tranchant, & Jane Curry. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Pete Tranchant & Ronald Tranchant. Romain worked as a coal miner through his life with Ziegler Coal Mine, as well as Continental Filling, and had many great memories. He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy. He was known as an avid outdoor enthusiast. He spent his time fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, camping, and hiking. Romain lived all over the US and travelled the world. At one time he was able to visit Belgium to connect with distant family. He loved his family and spending time with them. A celebration of Romains life will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am, Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883. As per his wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Cara no-kill shelter, Tilton, Illinois.
