Catlin- Roland Eugene Culp, Jr., 64, of Catlin, Il passed away at 8:20 AM on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the VA Illiana Health Care System. He was born on August 24, 1948 in Danville to Roland E. and Sarah M. Culp. Surviving are six children, Tammy (Jim Mosay) Culp of Oakwood, Shona (Dennis) Brest of Georgetown, Yvonne (Doug) Curry of Georgetown, Michael (Jennie) Culp of Nashville, IN, Joshua Cook of Terre Haute, IN, Katelyn (Rex Loden) Cook of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Les Raymond and Robert; five sisters, Marcella, Terri, Judy (Lenard), Lori and Vicki; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harlan and Robert Benton. Roland served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a fantastic cook who worked for many years at the Ramada Inn, as well as other places and for several years he owned his own restaurant Cakes and Eggs. He loved to sing karaoke, play poker, tend to his garden, and have coffee with friends. Roland was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, but most of all loved to spend time with his grandkids and kids. A service to celebrate the life of Roland Culp will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-6 PM on Sunday, September 23, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to the MIA/POW Foundation or the VA Illiana Health Care Systems Palliative Care Unit.
