Roger Battle

Champaign - Roger Dwain Battle,74, of Champaign left this world Thursday, February 23, 2023, at The Waters of Covington, IN. His wife Laura and son Taylor were by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alvie and Yvonne (Schneider) Battle.

Roger was born in St. Louis, MO, December 12, 1948 and raised in Urbana. Roger graduated from Urbana High School and joined the United States Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Hollister during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed many sportsOhio State Football, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, golf and bowling. It was bowling where he met his loving wife Laura and they wed August 2, 1974.

Roger retired from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and filled his time working at Ford City of Champaign, golfing with the Grasshopper League, traveling and cruising with his wife, trips to St. Louis for Cardinal games and watching Law and Order reruns.

Roger is survived by his wife Laura, their son Taylor (Bridget) Battle, grandsons Gabriel and Ezekiel, as well as his daughter Elizabeth Davis, Billoxi, MS.
