Rod Ross, 56, of Kaneville, IL, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away at 4:53pm on Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Alden of Waterford Rehabilitation Center in Aurora. He was born on August 7, 1955, in Danville, the son of Glenn C. and Betty J. (Beam) Ross. On March 24, 1978, Rod married Cathy (West) Ross at the Holiday Hills Free Methodist Church in Danville. She survives. Other surviving family includes one brother; Glenn (Rondi) Ross of Michigan, and his sister; Kathy (Bob) Richard of Danville. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle; Bill and Becky Maxwell of Danville, two nephews; Jeff Ross, Adam Richard, one niece; Suzi Ross, and several other aunts and cousins. Rod is preceded in death by his parents. He attended Danville High School and later acquired his CDL as a school bus driver. Rod enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, and fishing. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and sports collector. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. A Celebration of the Life of Rod Ross is scheduled for 1:30pm on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Springhill Chapel Mausoleum, located at 301 East Voorhees Street in Danville, with burial to follow at Springhill Cemetery following the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:30pm until time of the service on Friday at the chapel mausoleum. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Rod's name to either the Lazarus House Homeless Shelter in St. Charles, IL, or the Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin, IL.
