Roberta 'Kookie' Brewer

Roberta Lynn "Kookie" Brewer, age 56 of Westville, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at Prairie Rose Nursing Home in Pana, IL. She was born February 27, 1959 in Danville, the daughter of Robert and Wilma (McNeese) Blanton. She married Larry Brewer on July 13, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV. He survives and will miss her terribly. Also surviving are her son, Bryan Blanton of Westville; mother, Wilma Blanton of Westville; brother, Jim Blanton of Westville; sister, Wanda "Kandi" Blanton of Westville; nephew, Dalton Burks of Westville; all her sewing friends she made at Star Trek conventions as well as many other close family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Blanton, and maternal and paternal grandparents. Roberta worked as a nurse at the VA Illiana Health Care Systems in Danville for 13 years. Prior to that she worked at various nursing homes in the area. Roberta loved scrapbooking and sewing. She made clothes for her son and husband as well as her friends, family, and coworkers. Whenever someone who knew Roberta needed their clothes mended they knew where to take it. She made all her scrub tops for work as well as uniforms for the Star Trek conventions. Roberta and her friends were the main ladies who fixed everyone's uniforms that needed to be mended at the Star Trek conventions. Most of all Roberta was her son's biggest supporter and closest friend. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola were she will be laid to rest.
