Roberta Jo Pepping, 67, of Danville, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, May 27th, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Roberta was born on October 9th, 1944, in Danville, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Black) Pepping. She is survived by her mother. She is also survived by one sister- Jennifer (Thomas) Szott of Danville; brother- Rick (Jeanne) Pepping of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three nieces- Meg (Szott) Jacobson, Julia (Pepping) Gaffney and Amanda Pepping; and two nephews- Allen Szott and Matthew Pepping. She was preceded in death by her father. Roberta graduated from Danville High School in 1962 and Illinois Masonic Hospital Nursing School in 1965. She also earned degrees from University of Georgia and United Theological Seminary in Brighton, Minnesota. Roberta worked as a registered nurse for most of her life, working in Florida, Georgia, California, Minnesota, and Illinois. She later worked as truck driver for North America Van Lines, as her late life adventure. She loved driving all over the country. She was a member of Sweet Adeline's and enjoyed singing around Danville. She enjoyed driving, singing and doing anything outdoors, especially fishing and playing softball. A Memorial Service for Roberta Jo Pepping will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 at Danville United Church of Christ, with Char Wozny and Pastor Connie Moodie officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the church. Per her wishes she will be cremated. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Roberta's name to the American Cancer Society.
