Danville - Roberta B. Balsley, 85, of Danville passed away at 8:21 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born on August 3, 1927 in Denver, CO to Doan and Gladys Robertson Carlock. She married Delbert Fritz on February 13, 1945. She then married Delmar Summers on November 12, 1953. Roberta and her last husband Joe Balsley were married on October 10, 1980. Her husbands had preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Becky (Jewell) Lucas of Danville; four sons, Irvin (Diana) Summers, David (Kim) Fritz, Wayne (Annie) Fritz, and Steve (Jodie) Summers; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Myra Myers, and a great-grandson, Christopher Johnson. Roberta was a long time member of the Second Church of Christ, as well as an avid gardener. Roberta loved spending time outdoors and planting in her flower and herb gardens. Roberta belonged to the Danville Garden Club as well as the Green Thumb Club. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, and also a former member of the Danville Boat Club, Gao Grotto, and a former leader of the Boys and Girl scouts. A service to celebrate the life of Roberta Balsley will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville on Tuesday April 9, 2013 at 11 AM. Drew Mentzer will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, April 8, also at Sunset in Danville.
