Robert Young

Well guess what? I, Robert Young, age 77 years left this earth on Saturday, July 16, 2016 to begin a new adventure. I know I will be sadly missed, but do not cry for me. I was born May 20, 1939 in Henning, Illinois to Robert, Sr., and Loretta Young. I graduated Henning High School. I became a carpenter for Cardinal Crane and Later O'Neil Brothers of Danville, IL. I was a heavy highway foreman for O'Neil brothers. I had many friends and enjoyed my work. Every day was a new day for me when I went to work. Retirement was overrated, so was getting old. I will leave behind my wife of many years, Gloria; my daughter Ty; my only sister, Joan Smith; Don Smith (Marilyn); my nephew. I was preceded in death by my parents, grandparents and a lot of dear friends. I was also preceded in death by several cats and dogs, my favorite dog, Red, was one of them. Don't look for any words of wisdom, I was a man of few words; but if I can tell you anything I try to find good in people, you may have to dig deep - if you have to get a shovel. I enjoyed my friends, neighbors and family. I had many special friends; Judy and Richard Stump, Larry and Brenda Trimble, Randy and Barb Gibson, Alan and Janet Bishop and all my friends from my church. I will see all of you again, this I am sure. Well, everyone, my adventure awaits, I must go. But know this, I will miss and never forget each and every family member and friends. A celebration of Robert's life will be held 10 AM, Friday, July 22, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Zach Lacrone. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Visitation will be 4-6 PM, Thursday, July 21, 2016. Robert will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
