Robert K. Witherell

Robert K. Witherell, 98, of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Urbana, IL, just one day after the loss of his beloved wife, Delores. He was born in Peoria Heights, IL, on February 19, 1928, the son of Alva and Ina (Stevens) Witherell.

Robert is survived by his children, Mary Kay (Calvin) Florey and Robert (Sophia) Witherell Jr., and grandson, Calvin (Shelbi) Florey.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Vernon Witherell.

Robert was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served his country honorably. He also worked as an electrician for many years before retirement.

In his spare time, Robert enjoyed gardening and especially growing tomatoes. He also liked woodworking and often spent time building birdhouses. Watching and feeding the birds was something he found joy in.

A graveside service to honor Robert and Delores will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, located at 4601 W War Memorial Drive, Peoria, Illinois 61615. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Mahomet Chapel, 1102 Churchill Rd. Mahomet, IL 61853, is honored to assist the family with funeral arrangements.
