Robert Westwater

Robert J. Westwater, 92, of Rossville passed away on March 8, 2010 at Hoopeston Nursing Home. Robert was born November 4, 1917 in Danville, son of John and Lois (Maxwell) Westwater. He married Shirley Byers (Lusk) on February 16, 1985. She survives along with eight children: Robert Bruce (Jan) Westwater of Shelbyville, IN, Alice Jan (Robert) Collins of Katy, TX, Craig Stephen Bott of Indianapolis, IN, Kirk Michael (Joy) Bott of Danville, IL, John Scott Westwater of West Vancouver, BC, Jeanne (John) Zollar, Randall Lee (Monique) Lusk both of Rossville, IL, and Michael Paul (LuAnn) Lusk of Alvin, IL; grandchildren: Errol Westwater of SC, Robert John Westwater of Indianapolis, IN, Giesela (David) Ellison of VA, Robert (Dawn) Collins of Danville, IL, Richard (Lisa) Collins of Alvin, TX, Christopher (Sonja) Collins of Saudi Arabia, Michael (Lisa) Collins of Crofton, MA, Beth and Chloe Westwater of West Vancouver, BC, Laura Bott, Amy Bott, Andy Bott, Stephanie Bott all of Danville, IL, James Zollar, Jared Zollar, Jacob Zollar, Jenna Zollar, Trisha (Allen) Willard, Amanda Lusk all of Rossville, IL, and Tom Lusk of Alvin, IL; and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Alan, sister Jean, brothers Jack & Jim, three great grandchildren: Christopher Allen, Rebekah, and Andi Mae, and two daughter-in-laws: Elfrieda & Teresa. Robert was a graduate of Danville High School, where he was a swimming and diving champion, and had served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He attended the University of Illinois and later graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He practiced in Danville for 56 years until retiring. Robert was a member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville for a number of years, and also was a member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge, and a former member of the Kiwanis, Red Cross, Boy Scout Committee member and the Danville Elks Club. Robert enjoyed volleyball, golf, racquetball, and acting in the Danville Light Opera. He was an avid fisherman that loved the trips to Canada with family and fellow boy scouts, as well as an avid Cubs, Bears, & Illini fan. A Celebration of Roberts Life will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
