Robert Wayne Davis Sr

Robert Wayne Davis Sr., 77, of Danville, IL, passed away the evening of Saturday, February 10th. Known as Bob, he was born on January 13, 1947 to Robert John and Flossie B. (Mahan) Davis in Chicago. Not even 21 years later, he found the love of his life in Carol Andrews, and they married in Elgin, Illinois on January 8, 1968. She survives.

Along with his wife, Bob is survived by his son, Robert (Sherri) Davis Jr.; daughter, Christine Miller; grandchildren, Kayleigh (Nick) Konieczki and Robert Lee Miller; 2 great-grandchildren; and a sister.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steven Davis; his brother; and his loving dog and all-around loyal friend, Maggie.

Bob served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam with an honorable discharge. Bob worked for many years as a mechanic for Chevrolet and Toyota then for the State of Illinois Department of Transportation. In later life Bob and his family moved from Elgin to Danville, IL where he worked and later retired from Ameritech Phone Company.

A service in honor of Bob will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61834. There will also be a visitation beforehand from 10:00-11:00 AM, also at Sunset Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL. In lieu of flowers, Bobs family requests that donations be made out to the Fisher House Foundation, which houses families of veterans while they are receiving medical treatment or are otherwise in need.
