Bismarck- Robert W. White, 76, of Bismarck passed away after a 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer at 3:08 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born in a boxcar on January 17, 1936 in Danville to James Columbus and Susan Belle Hashman White. He married Peggy Acton on June 16, 2000 at First Baptist Church in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are two children, Lori (Matt) Mills of Florence, KY, and Bobby (Michelle) White of Danville; three step-children, Julie Acton of Danville, Thomas J. Acton, Jr. of Duluth, MN, and Gena (Tim) Massey of Danville; nine brothers and sisters, Charles "Shauie" (Carole) White, Henry (Helen) White, Mary Peterson, George (Betty) White, Nancy Hardy, Herschel (Charlotte) White, Albert White, Bill (Deea) White, and Linda White; eight grandchildren, Ezra (Liz) Mills, Evan Mills, Abbi Mills, Austin (Sarah) Massey, Ethan Massey, Ian Massey, Layn White, and Lilly White; great-granddaughter Samantha Grace; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and special friends Dr. Tim and Glenna Horner. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lila White, parents, and two brothers, Jerry and Carl White. Bob was stationed in Germany as he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957. He worked at Bullock's Garage and was the owner of Bob White Garage Doors. Bob was a member at First Baptist Church in Danville where he served as an usher and Sunday School class music leader. He loved playing and singing Bluegrass Gospel music, enjoyed his horses and spending time on his ranch, and working with power tools. A service to celebrate the life of Bob White will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Danville. Pastor Jerry Cummins will officiate. Military Honors and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, January 31, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis or to First Baptist Church.
