Robert W. Messmore, 96, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Heritage Healthcare in Hoopeston. He was born on February 12, 1925, the son of Hazel (Kizer) and Edgar Messmore in Danville, IL.
Robert leaves behind his three children, Larry (Bonnie) Messmore. Mickey (Gary) Haton, and Jeff (Pam) Messmore; seven grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Preceding Robert in death are his parents; his wife, Mildred (Handley) Messmore, who passed in 2009; son and daughter in law, Terry and Judy Messmore; great grandchildren, Jerry and Henry; and sister, Vivian.
First and foremost, Robert was a husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and especially loved family cookouts. He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida. He was a Mason of the 32nd degree. Robert has several occupations including mechanic and truck driver. He was a band leader for the family band called My Three Sons & Mickey. The band performed locally as well as on tour. To include Dave Dudley, Dolly Parton, and several country artists that came to the area. He will be missed dearly his family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Oakwood, Illinois 105 East S. Main St. Oakwood, Illinois 61858. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Quick. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
