Robert W. Howe, 76, of Georgetown, passed away at 4:17am, Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Provena USMC, Danville. He was born on January 23, 1935, in Danville, IL, the son of George A. and Mary G. {Kenser} Howe, both deceased. He was united in marriage to JoAnn Myler on December 26, 1958, in Sidell, IL, who preceded in him death. Robert worked at Veterans Administration in Danville for 29 years as a dietetic. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army and had served in Guam. He was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening and mowing. He was also known for being a big fan of Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, as well as, a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the Fighting Illini. Robert will be missed by: his children, Greg Howe of Sidell, James Howe of Danville, & Barbara (Clayton) McElwee of Hume; his granddaughter, Dana N. Howe of Champaign; his brothers, George (Gloria) Howe of Fairmount & Russell (Madeline) Howe of Catlin; and his sisters, Evelynn Thomason of Danville, Beverly Bryant of Belle Fourche, SD, & Helen (John) Shank of Pennsylvania. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Fairview United Methodist Church with Matt Filicsky officiating. As were his wishes, Robert was cremated under the immediate supervision of Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel at our onsite crematory and will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203.
